Summer nights in Raleigh are truly something special, especially when you’re in the heart of Midtown at North Hills. For the past 15 years, the Midtown Beach Music Series has been one of the area’s favorite summer traditions. Every Thursday evening from April through June, Raleigh residents gather in Midtown Park to dance, socialize, and enjoy the sounds of classic beach music under the stars.
In July, we had the privilege of attending the final event of the 2024 season, and it was a night to remember. With THE EMBERS featuring Craig Woolard headlining the evening, the event capped off the 15th season with a bang. David Wilson from Carolina’s Choice Real Estate was on-site to capture the excitement of the night, and we’re thrilled to share a recap of this incredible event.
Midtown Beach Music Series: A Raleigh Summer Tradition
For over a decade, the Midtown Beach Music Series has brought together families, friends, and neighbors, providing an evening full of fantastic live music, food, drinks, and activities for all ages. This free, family-friendly event creates a welcoming atmosphere for Raleigh’s diverse community, helping build connections and memories that last far beyond the summer months.
While beach music may have originated on the coast, it has found a second home in Raleigh at North Hills. The event features a mix of both new and classic beach music bands that bring the genre’s signature sound to the heart of the city. From shag dancing to food trucks and local vendors, the Midtown Beach Music Series offers something for everyone.
The Grand Finale: THE EMBERS Featuring Craig Woolard
This year’s grand finale was headlined by none other than THE EMBERS featuring Craig Woolard. Known as one of the premier beach music bands, THE EMBERS have a rich history in the music world. Their sound, which blends soul, rhythm and blues, and beach music, has made them a beloved act in the Carolinas for decades.
THE EMBERS’ return to the Midtown Beach Music Series was nothing short of electric. It was the perfect way to bring the 15th season to a close, creating an unforgettable experience for all in attendance.
David Wilson, of Carolina’s Choice Real Estate, who attended the event, captured the essence of the evening, saying:
“This vibrant community gathers right here in Midtown Park to enjoy some of the best beach music around. The series has become a cherished tradition in Raleigh, bringing together both new and classic acts for a night of fun and dancing.”
Wilson’s words truly reflect what the Midtown Beach Music Series is all about: community, tradition, and the joy that music can bring to our lives.
More Than Just Music: Building Community in Raleigh
The Midtown Beach Music Series is much more than just music. As David Wilson emphasized in his recap of the event, the series is about bringing people together to share in the joy of community. Each Thursday night offers not only music but also a variety of food, drinks, and family-friendly activities.
From local food trucks offering a variety of cuisines to wine bars like Vita Vite Midtown and upscale Italian eateries like Cucciola Terraza, the Midtown Beach Music Series offers plenty of opportunities to grab a bite to eat or sip on a refreshing drink as you enjoy the show. Other nearby restaurants, including The Cowfish, Giorgio Pizza Bar, and Rosewater Kitchen & Bar, are perfect for a pre-show dinner or post-concert nightcap.
This sense of community is what makes the Midtown Beach Music Series so special. It’s not just about listening to music, but about creating memories with friends, family, and neighbors. It’s a tradition that has grown over the past 15 years and continues to bring people back, year after year.
Looking Ahead to Season 16
Though the 2024 season has come to a close, the excitement is already building for next year. In 2025, the Midtown Beach Music Series will kick off its 16th season, running from April through June. For twelve weeks, Midtown Park will once again transform into the ultimate summer hangout spot, with live music, dancing, and fun for everyone.
David Wilson is already looking forward to next year’s festivities, saying:
“I can’t wait for the 16th season to kick off in the spring and summer of 2025! From April through June, we’ll once again gather here for twelve weeks of fun, dancing, and of course, that classic beach music vibe!”
The community of Raleigh eagerly awaits the return of this beloved tradition, and there’s no doubt that next year will bring even more memorable moments and exciting performances.
