Here are four questions you need to ask an agent before hiring them.
Are you looking to sell your home? If so, you should know that who you work with matters. That’s why I’m sharing four questions you should ask a real estate agent before hiring them:
1. How long have you been a Realtor? Your home is likely your largest asset; do you really want to trust its sale to someone who hasn’t been in the business for a long time? Experience matters in real estate, which is why you should choose a seasoned agent.
“The truth is that there’s more to being an agent than waiting for an offer to fall into your lap.”
2. How many sales have you done in the last year? This question is similar to the last one. You should try to pick an agent who has lots of experience selling in your area. They’ll know the problems unique to your region and how to solve them because they’ve likely done it before.
3. What does your sales strategy look like? You need to understand how your agent will generate offers for your property. Once you receive an offer, what’s their plan? A good agent’s goal should be to help you get top dollar for your property, but I’ve seen plenty of agents advise their clients to accept the first offer that comes their way. The truth is that there’s more to being an agent than waiting for an offer to fall into your lap.
4. How do you plan to market my property? Most homes can sell just fine with simple advertising, but if you want top dollar, you have to go a step further. For example, professional photos are a must, in my opinion. Most people will see your home for the first time online, so your photos matter now more than ever.
