Today I want to share the key steps to preparing your home for the market, even if you’re on a budget. We’ve all heard the stories about how much of a seller’s market we’re in, but it’s still important to present your home in the best possible light. This will not only help you get the most money possible, but it will also help once the market starts to slow down eventually.
1. Your curb appeal is your first impression. The first things a buyer will see are your lawn and the front of your house. Lay down fresh mulch, trim the bushes so that they don’t obscure your home, repair any easy-to-see rotten siding or trim, and give your home a quick power wash.
“Your home is your largest asset, so you should make it count when you decide to sell.”
2. Clean and declutter. We want the home to feel as spacious as possible. Pay extra attention to the primary bedroom closet. No one likes a dirty home, so remember to clean. Also, buyers love fresh paint and carpet; those changes will always get you a return on investment.
3. Less is more. Buyers want to see the home, not your family photos and trinkets. It’s important to depersonalize because the more move-in-ready a home is, the more buyers will be willing to pay.
Your home is your largest asset, so you should make it count when you decide to sell. If you have questions about this or any other real estate topics, don’t hesitate to give me a call. I’d love to chat with you.
