Morrisville is a medium-sized town in both Wake and Durham counties. It has seven neighborhoods and is the 48th largest community in the state of North Carolina. It is a wealthy community to both state and national economic standards. Morrisville is considered part of the Research Triangle Metropolitan Area which means there are countless education and employment opportunities in the area. It is extremely diverse both ethnically and racially and nearly 30% of its residents are foreign born . Caucasian and Asian are the most common racial populations. English remains the primary language in the community, followed by Chinese, Spanish, Hindi and various other Asian languages. It is a well-educated community as well, approximately 65% of adults in the community have a four-year degree or more, about three times higher than the national average. Bus service in the town is provided by Triangle Transit and it is located about twenty-five minutes from downtown Raleigh.

The town is named in honor or Jeremiah Davis who gave the town its start. Morris donated three acres to the North Carolina Railroad for a water station in the area in 1852. Morris also established the first post office and served as it’s first postmaster. In 1865, one of the last battles of the Civil War was fought in Morrisville then in 1875 the town was officially chartered. By the mid-1870s the town was thriving with six general stores, a sawmill, two churches and four physicians. The town had it’s ups and downs, suffering disincorporation  in 1933 and then rechartered in 1947. Today it is a thriving and affluent community located close proximity to countless opportunities.

Morrisville spans approximately 8.3 square miles and in 2015 it had a population of 23,699 and a population density of 2,900 people per square mile. It is an emphatically white-collar town where 94% of the workforce hold/work in white-collar positions/professions. Nearly 8% of the workforce works from home predominantly through telecommuting, the remainder through home-based businesses and freelance work. In 2013, estimated median household income was $79,855, the estimated per capita income was $40,634. Among the town’s top employers is Lenovo, Oracle, IBM, Time Warner Cable, Met Life and Fidelity investments. Also, in 2013, the median house or condo value was 256,002, the mean price on all housing units was $273,171 and the median gross rent was $1,031.

The main school district for the town is the Wake County School District. Local schools serving Morrisville include Cedar Fork Elementary, Sterling Montessori school and others. The community has six parks and one community center. Among these facilities is Crabtree Creek Nature Park, the Shiloh Community Park, Luther Green Community Center and more. Amenities at the facilities include playgrounds, shelter houses, picnic areas, sport courts and fields, walking/jogging paths, nature areas and so much more.
